At the Grand Finale of Miss World 2019 contest held at Excel London on December 14, 2019, Jamaica beauty Tony-Ann Singh bagged the Miss World crown while France’s Ophely Mezino and India’s Suman Rao were the first and second runner ups respectively.
Post her winning the coveted Miss World title, the 23-year old Jamaican lady is trending on Twitter and Instagram since Saturday night. Praises and congratulatory messages are pouring from all over the world. Following her win, Tony-Ann Singh has penned an emotional note on her Instagram account where she expresses her gratitude to her homeland, mother, and God.
She begins her note by taking the name of Jamaica, her homeland and says that her heart is filled with love and gratitude. She thanks her family and friends for their consistent love and support that motivated her to work hard and get honored to be the 69th Miss World.
She adds, “You pushed me to believe in myself. I am not only honored but humbled to be the 69th Miss World. Thank you to my family and my friends. The love and support you poured into me now allow me to pour into the world.”
Tony-Ann credits her mother Jahrine Bailey as her biggest strength and supporter, writes, “I love you, I love you, I love you. I wish to become even half the woman you are. You are my strength, my number one supporter/cheerleader/fan, and my absolute best friend”.
Singh has written motivational words for girls in Jamaica and all over the world. She tells all girls to believe in themselves and know their self-worth.
“Please believe in yourself and know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams. This crown is not mine but yours. No matter what cards you’re dealt in life – your dreams are valid and you have a PURPOSE.”

She further thanks Miss Jamaica World and Miss world franchise for giving her the chance and trusting her. She concludes her note by thanking God, “And last but of course not least, thank you, GOD. Thank you for allowing me to walk the path towards my purpose. My heart is full. One Love.”
In a round of questions asked by British Journalist Piers Morgan, she replied Morgan, “I think I represent something special, a generation of women that are pushing forward to change the world.”
Singh was born in Jamaica, Singh moved to the USA at the age of nine and settled in Florida. She holds a degree in women’s studies and psychology from Florida State University in Tallahassee.
