At least 46 migrants who came to the U.S. from Mexico were found dead inside a tractor-trailer. Not everyone was dead in this trailer. At least 16 of them have been taken to the hospital as there was no water to drink inside and there were four children who were dehydrated and exhausted.
The mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg said it is a, “horrified tragedy”. He called for the people to pray for those who have been affected by the incident. “Migrants seeking asylum should always be treated as a humanitarian crisis, but this evening we’re facing a horrific human tragedy. More than 40 hopeful lives were lost. I urge you to think compassionately, and pray for the deceased, the ailing, and their families at this moment.” He said.
This is the deadliest human smuggling event in the history of United States. Before this in May 13, 2003, there were 19 migrants found dead in an 18-wheeler in South Texas.
