As they say, three things in your life matter the most: your health, your mission, and the people you love from the core of your heart. Health always remains at the top of the list. Health is a gift that we can’t deny, and a healthy body will lead to a happy and successful life.

Everyone struggles with some health issue, and women’s health issues matter most. Women face so many health issues, but today we discuss two of them. One of them is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and the other is Polycystic Ovarian Disease, also known as PCOD. We will tell you what those are, and we will also tell you the difference between them.

What Is PCOS?

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a condition, not a disease in which the female ovaries produce a large and abnormal amount of the male sex hormones. The male sex hormones are called androgens, and they are usually present in a woman’s body in a small amount.

Every woman feels this condition differently. For some, it may cause problems; for others, it may not. You are more likely to have PCOS if your mother or sister has it, cured through medication.

What Is PCOD?

Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) is a condition where ovaries start to release a large amount of immature or half-matured eggs. These types of eggs all the time turn into cysts.

The common symptoms of this condition are:

  • Abdominal weight gain or loss.
  • Irregular periods.
  • Hair loss.
  • Growth of hair on the body.
  • Little infertility.
  • Pain in the lower abdominal region.

The cause of PCOD is still unknown to the doctors of the whole world, but it is treated with medication.

Difference Between PCOD and PCOS

2) PCOD is a common condition. Every third woman has PCOD, whereas PCOS is a rare condition and has fewer patients.

3) PCOD doesn’t affect the woman’s fertility, and it doesn’t even affect the pregnancy procedure. PCOS is quite challenging towards infertility, and it also affects the pregnancy in most cases.

4) PCOD can be cured and taken care of at home by regular exercise and a perfect diet, but in the case of PCOS, the woman needs treatment from a doctor as it is a metabolic disorder.
