Diabetic Plan for Diabetes Patient

Diabetic Diet Plan (1600 calories)

Here are some diabetic diet plans for the diabetes patients they should follow. 

Early morning

  • Sprouted methi seeds (1 tsp)
  • Lemon water/ herbal tea/ green tea/ normal tea without sugar
  • Dry fruits [only almonds (8-10) and walnuts (3-5)]

Breakfast

  • Skim milk (1 glass)
  • Whole grain bread/multigrain bread/ chapati/ suji/oats/daliya/ muesli (40 gm)
  • One small bowl vegetable (100 gm)
  • Egg white/ paneer/ tofu, 2-3 small pieces (30 gm)
  • Prepare the whole breakfast in only 1 tsp of oil/ desi ghee/butter

Mid morning

  • Fruit one small plate (apple/ papaya/ watermelon/ musk melon/ mausami/ orange/ jamun/ falsa/ pear/ amla/ guava)
  • Jaljeera/ lemon water 1 glass

Lunch

  • Chapatti (2 in no, if having rice then 1 chapatti with half plate brown rice
  • Prepare chapatti with the multi grain flour or mix 1/4th part of chana flour/ soyabean flour in wheat flour.
  • Dal/ chicken/ fish, 1 small bowl (35 gm)
  • Vegetable, 1 small bowl (100-150 gm)
  • Salad, 1 plate (100 gm)
  • Curd or raita, 1 small bowl (100 gm)
  • Prepare lunch in only 1 tsp of oil

Tea time

  • Milk (1 cup)
  • Sprouted dal chat/ roasted chana/ soya (1 small bowl) OR roasted paneer/tofu (2pcs) OR oats/ragi/multigrain sugar free biscuits (2-3 in no.)

Before dinner

  • Homemade vegetable/ chicken soup (1 glass)

Dinner

  • Chapatti (2 in no.)
  • Dal/ chicken/ fish, 1 small bowl (30-35 gm)
  • Vegetable (preferably green), 1 small bowl (100-150 gm)
  • Curd/ raita, 1 katori (100 gm)
  • Salad, 1 plate (100 gm)
  • Prepare dinner in only 1 tsp of oil

Bed time

  • Herbal tea/ green tea (1 cup)
  • Marie/ oats/ ragi biscuits (1-2 in no)

Foods to be strictly avoided

  • Sweet and sweet products
  • Marmalade, Jam, glucose
  • Soft drinks, squashes
  • Alcohol, aerated drinks, juices
  • Excess of vegetables like potato, jimikand, arbi, beetroot, shakarkandi
  • Fruits like mango, cheeku, banana and grapes
  • Cooking soda, baking soda and preserved food items like sauces and pickles
  • Horlicks, complan, bournvita etc.

Foods allowed sometimes

  • Coconut water, rice and rice products

Foods allowed liberally

  • Green leafy vegetables, lemon water,  homemade soup, karela (juice or other preparation), jamun, sprouted methi seeds, onion, garlic, ginger, amla, flax seeds, methi dana, soyabean and its products.
